Abstract: In the joint work with Nikita Semenov and Skip Garibaldi we show that the isotropness of a srtongly inner group of type E_7 is (almost) completely detected by the Rost invariant of the corresponding cocycle. The proof uses essentialy the theory of Chow motives.
